I mainly use Drupal and Wordpress for websites and blogs. This Typepad account is mainly being used for historical and fun purposes.

Read GTD and use it!!

Buying the GTD book is one thing, but acting on its advice and using it in everyday life is really what you want to achieve. I have read the book twice and attended two GTD seminars. It is wonderful inspiration for personal productivity.

What are mobile phones for?

The largest annual mobile wireless exhibition in Asia was held receltly in Hong Kong. All these power brains from around the world concluded that most people like to use mobile phones to make phone calls and send texts - what a suprise!!  2006 may see HSDPA and EV-DO being deployed on some networks - this will mainly allow faster downloads, no doubt at a good price. The Isle of Man is leading ahead and is rolling trials already.  Read more.

St.Albans Beer Festival

This year saw the 10th St.Albans Beer Festival hosted in the Alban Arena hosted by CAMRA and the St.Albans Lions. As always a great selection of beers over the 4 days/evenings. I chose to go on the Saturday night so that I could have the Sunday to recover. The classic rock band Straight Life were playing again - excellent songs including Black Betty and Smoke on the Water. A group of us left around 1030pm to catch last orders in The Boot before heading off for a curry.

Humax DTV

Unboxed and setup my new Humax digital TV at the weeked. So far, I am very pleased with it. It has twin Freeview tuners and plenty of scart sockets. More importantly for me is a VGA lead so I can plug in my laptop to show off my holiday pictures. The user interface is simple and functional. I quickly go into it as I also have a Humax PVR.

Nikon WiFi Camera's

Nikon have just announced the Coolpix P1 and Coolpix P2. Not only do they have an impressive range of photography features, but they also have WiFi so you can transfer your photos without wires. Unfortunately you can only transfer to your PC/MAC with Nikon software. If I could nip in to Starbucks and send it to my Flickr that would be even better.  These cameras should be in the shops at the end of September. I'll be down to Jessops in a flash.

When can I have Intel Viiv

Dear Santa.  I currently have a Humax Freeview PVR, a DVD play and Linksys WMA all going through my 5:1 amp. Watching any of these inputs elsewhere in the home is really difficult. I have just read about Intel Viiv which will allow a compliant PC to bring all my needs into one device and make it available around the home. I can't wait!!
